FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How many times a week can I sensibly use a sunbed?
According to HSE and European recommendations, it is advised to have 48h of break between your sessions. Therefore, we recommend up to 3 sessions per week. It is important that all sunbed users do not exceed the recommended total tanning time on a sunbed of 600 minutes per year.
2. Can I bring my daughter for a Sunbed session ?
Yes, anyone can use Sunbed, as long as they are 18+ years of age and are non type 1 skin photo-type.
3. What my skin phototype?
There are 4 skin phototypes that determine your intrinsic tanning capabilities, of which people with type 1 skin are advised to not use sunbeds. If you are unable to diagnose your skin type, please talk to one of our tanning experts to help you.
4. Can I tan my body, but not my face?
Yes. All our lie down sunbeds are equipped with specialised facial lamps that can be reduced or switched off when required.
5. How many minutes should I take for the first session?
The amount of minutes taken during your first session will vary from person to person. You should start with low amount of minutes and increase it gradually. During your first visit to OMG Studio, you will be asked to fill in a short questionnaire and one our staff will adjust the right time for you. Generally our clients start with 3-5 min for the first session.
6. Which bed should I use?
Our salon has stand up and lie down tanning beds. Each of our devices is is equipped in different bulb type to suit your skin photo-type and your needs. You can choose from double-bronzing sunbeds, deep bronzing sunbeds and hybrid sunbeds. Our staff will advice you on which bed type is best for your skin type to maximise your tanning results and minimise the time you spend on Sunbed.
7. What is the difference between the sunbeds at OMG Studio?
We offer three type of sunbeds: double-bronzing sunbeds, deep bronzing sunbeds and hybrid sunbeds. The difference between double bronzing and deep bronzing devices is the varying concentration/ ratio of UVA and UVB rays, where the max UVB concentration is 0.3 W/m2 . It is important that you pick a bed with the right UVA/UVB ratio for your skin type, so that you tan faster and spend less time on Sunbed. The hybrid sunbeds are combo of deep bronzing lamps and red light therapy.
8. Should I use tanning lotions?
Yes. We adise all our clients to use tanning lotions designated for INDOOR tanning. Skin that has not been prepared for tanning can reflect up to 50% of UV rays instead of absorbing them.
9. Which tanning cosmetics should I use ?
There are number of options available in our salon. Our cosmetics can be subdivided to 3 categories: tanning accelerators, bronzers and bronzing accelerators.
Accelerators have a number of ingredient that will speed up production of pigment in your skin when exposed to UV. Therefore the more pigment potential your skin, the darker your tan will get.
Bronzers have an added tint and are capable of giving you that extra boost in your skin colour. Some bronzers can contain fake tan, but they don't have to. So if you are looking for a bronzer with no fake tan, you should talk to our staff to discuss your options.
Bronzing accelerators are a combination of bronzers and accelerators. If your require advice on which cosmetics should you use to maximise your tanning results, talk to one of our staff.
